PEZA to create PHL business map to lure foreign investment
To encourage more foreign businessmen to invest in the country, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) on Thursday said it is crafting a Philippine business geography that highlights the best places for enterprises to set up shop.
"PEZA is now undergoing the inventory of all our vacant lands that we will offer to foreign investors. By January we will have a complete map of the Philippines," PEZA Director-General Charito "Ching" Plaza said at the Global Investment Forum in Taguig City.
The map will help link prospective investors to the best area in relation their products or services.
"We can pinpoint which kind of an industry they are going to put up in the Philippines and pinpoint to them these are the areas with Special Economic Zones that fit," she said.
Plaza earlier said foreign investors, including members of royal families in the Middle East, are interested in leasing land in the Philippines.
"We are now revolutionizing PEZA. Our new thrust in ecozone development is to establish and create," Plaza said. — VDS, GMA News
