CebPac announces key changes in voluntary flight policy

Cebu Pacific on Wednesday announced key changes in its voluntary flight policy starting July.

From July 1, Cebu Pacific said the travel fund option for voluntary flight changes will only be available for passengers who pre-purchased the CEB Flexi add-on during initial booking for P499.

The add-on service allows passengers to cancel their flights for free up to two hours before departure, and store the value of the booking in a travel fund.

The amount in the virtual wallet is valid for two years, and may be used to book new flights or purchase other add-ons such as seat selection, additional baggage allowance, or travel allowances.

For those who wish to change bookings voluntarily without CEB Flexi, the carrier said passengers can use the unlimited rebooking option as much times as they want up to two hours before the scheduled time of departure.

Cebu Pacific permanently removed change fees since March, in efforts to provide flexibility amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have made it a point that we are agile in responding to our customers’ needs amid the fluid situation. It is our commitment to provide safe, affordable, and convenient air travels for everyJuan in the years to come, and we need to make sure that we operate sustainably," Cebu Pacific Vice President Candice Iyog said in an emailed statement.

"This is why we are announcing this new and permanent policy after over a year of careful assessment," she added.

Commercial air travel to and from Metro Manila was restricted from March 2020 and only resumed in June last year, after the easing of the community quarantine.

Cebu Pacific, along with other carriers Air Asia and Philippine Airlines, earlier appealed for the government to provide P8.6 billion in assistance to the airline industry given losses incurred during the period.
