Grab sanctions 500 drivers over trip cancellations
Some 500 drivers of Grab Holdings Inc. were sanctioned last week, due to complaints of trip cancellations in the ride-hailing platform.
"Grab Philippines has sanctioned almost 500 drivers just last week following an internal investigation into mounting complaints of drivers canceling passengers' bookings," it said in a statement.
This comes after riders of the transport network company (TNC) have complained that more drivers were canceling trips even after they accepted the booking.
With this, Grab Philippines Country Head Brian Cu said more drivers are expected to be sanctioned in the coming days.
"We will never tolerate any behavior that compromises the quality of our service. We see every post and complaint. We apologize that our services fell short," he said.
"However, we will move forward. We have rolled out additional and stricter measures to address issues on cancellations and this is just the start. We promise to improve to provide the quality of service our passengers deserve," he added.
However, Cu blamed the increased cancellations on the order of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to suspend the P2-per-minute fare of the TNC on April 18. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/RSJ, GMA News
