PHL to host ‘search for the next cover' of Sports Illustrated — DOT

Tourism Undersecretary Kat De Castro on Tuesday revealed that the Philippines will be playing host to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search.

Announcing the lineup of upcoming DOT projects, De Castro said that they are preparing for the "search for the next cover of Sports Illustrated."

"This is going to happen in the 13th of October, wherein there will be 18 swimsuit models coming to the Philippines. They will travel to our beaches, sa mga lesser known destination like the Subic Beach in Sorsogon and also Siargao," De Castro told the press.

De Castro added that models who formerly appeared on the cover will also be flying into the country. She additionally confirmed that the final cover will be shot here in the Philippines.

Models Chrissy Teigen, Kate Upton, and Esti Ginzburg have previously done photo shoots with Sports Illustrated on Philippine shores.

A few details are still being ironed out, but the project is in line with Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo's sports tourism campaign.

The Department of Tourism will also be bringing World's Strongest Man competition and the Ironman triathlon to the Philippines. — LA, GMA News
