Hinulugang Taktak closed due to oil spill
At least for the next few days, tourists may have to scratch Hinulugang Taktak in Antipolo City from their list of places to visit.
The Rizal provincial government on Wednesday said the falls will be closed starting Thursday due to an accident that caused an oil spill there.
"Pansamantala po muna nating isinasara ang Hinulugang Taktak sa publiko mula bukas, Abril 9, 2015 upang bigyang daan ang muling rehabilitasyon nito mula sa oil spill na nagdulot ng mabahong amoy sa parke," it said.
As to when the falls will be reopened, it said, "Antabayanan na lang po natin ang muli nitong pagbubukas."
The provincial government cited Tuesday's oil tanker accident at Sitip Lukay in Barangay dela Paz where oil spilled and caused a bad smell at Hinulugang Taktak.
It said the closure aims to ensure safety and health while a cleanup is taking place. —Joel Locsin/NB, GMA News
