Parokya ni Edgar to release new album after 5 years
After five years, Parokya ni Edgar will finally return with a new album this year!
Frontman Chito Miranda made the announcement on Instagram with a selfie featuring his bicycle on the road.
"Biking mag-isa pa-ikot-ikot sa village, tamang muni-muni lang habang sinasoundtrip 'yung bago naming album," he wrote in the caption, adding that he's very excited for its release.
"Sobrang trip ko 'yung mga bago naming kanta. Sobrang masaya din ako sa mga nasulat ko, at sobrang saya ko din sa mga nasulat ng mga kabanda ko," he added.
["Biking around the village alone, meditating while listening to our new album. I really like our new songs. I'm also very happy with what I and my bandmates wrote."]
According to Chito, they stayed lax for years so they didn't make a lot of progress for the album. It stayed on the sidelines and they did not have definite plans on whether or not it will be finished or released at all.
"At sa totoo, kahit nagsusulat pa rin ako (with other artists and para sa mga TVCs), wala akong paki kung matapos man 'yung album namin o hindi," he said.
["To be honest, even though I still write (with other artists and for TV commercials), I didn't care if our album would be finished or not."]
"Tapos ngayon, bigla kaming ginanahan tapusin, at kinagagalak kong sabihin na maglalabas kami ng bagong album by November," he added.
["Now, we suddenly had the energy to finish it and I'm happy to announce that we will release a new album by November."]
Netizens previously speculated that Chito will release new music after he and wife Neri Naig shared cryptic posts on social media.
Last year, Parokya ni Edgar made it to the list of top OPM artists on Spotify for 2020.
The band made its debut in 1996. Their last album, "Pogi Years Old," was released in 2016.
