Pia Wurtzbach admits going through depression: 'It's okay not to be okay'
Pia Wurtzbach admitted that she has gone through her own mental health struggles in the past.
In a series of "true or false" questions on her Instagram stories, Wednesday, a netizen asked Pia if it was true that she has "gone through depression."
The Miss Universe 2015 titleholder answered that it was true.
"This is true," the beauty queen said. "I've gone through some lows in my life."
"We shouldn't be embarrassed to share that. Kahit naman sino may pinagdadaanan," she added.
Pia also said that there was nothing wrong with sharing the "realities of life."
"May mga naging moments din ako na 'di okay," she said. "It's okay not to be okay."
In December, Pia was awarded with the "Woman of the Year" recognition by Dubai-based magazine Xpedition.
However, many netizens left hate comments directed at her for receiving the award, which led Pia to speak up and defend herself.
"I've been through some really dark times this year (even Jeremy has seen it) but somehow I've been able to fight through it and I haven't forgotten about the people who believe in me," she said.
"So to my bashers who work so hard to bring me down, okay lang sa 'kin kung ayaw n'yo sa 'kin, or iba kasi ang bet n'yo," she added. "There are people and organizations who still believe and trust in me and that's all that matters. Ok na ok na ko dun." —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
