Iya and Drew return for 'Home Foodie' Season 4
Kapuso couple Iya Villania and Drew Arellano are back together as hosts of the morning cooking show "Home Foodie."
The show, already on its fourth season , will begin airing on June 11 on GMA-7 after "Unang Hirit".
At the press conference of the show on Monday, the new chefs joining Iya and Drew were introduced: the show's brainchild Chef Llena Tan-Arcenas and two new kitchen masters Chef Martin Narisma and Chef John Valley, who have been tasked to create "Madalicious" (madali na, delicious pa) meals.
Aside from guiding newbies in the kitchen, Chef Llena said the show is meant to break the stereotypes that only women should cook.
"What I had in mind, aside from tapping newbies in the kitchen, [was] I wanted men to cook, that's why we had Drew Arellano with us in the first season, taking out the stereotype that only moms or women should cook in the kitchen, 'yon 'yong parang unique about Home Foodie," Chef Llena told the press.
She also said the recipes they will feature will try to stick to five easy steps.
"The recipes should always be pantry-friendly kahit papano, short 'yong procedures as much as possible we stick to 5 steps, but it has to be very understandable, even 'yong complex recipes, sometimes we really have classic or to resto-inspired, we can assure na pantry-friendly sila, we do have tips, tip plugs, chefs talking about tips," she said.
For anyone who is worried about the kitchen equipment to be used, Chef Llena also said they used the most accessible appliances, "I think one thing with Home Foodie is hindi kami gumagamit ng mga fancy equipment."
Meanwhile, Chef Martin said apart from the cooking part, "Home Foodie" will also teach the viewers the right storage of raw food.
"Definitely the storage, it's very imporant; handling raw, also 'yong pag-organize ng pantry, 'yong pagsunod talaga sa procedure nang maayos. When you check out our recipes sa website, explained siya thoroughly and all you have to do is follow from the first to the last step. You will be able to execute it so easily," he said.
Iya said one of the things that keep her and Drew interested is their constant learning of new recipes.
"Kaya rin kami na-aliw ni Drew as hosts of the show, kasi we also learn. We also discover new products and the different ways it can be used pala. Nakaka-aliw rin siya. We discover new things and also 'yon nga there are products out there pala na kunware timplado na, it cuts down your cooking time, kasi hindi mo na kailangan lutuin 'yon, mai-aadd na lang, it's really convenient talaga, because of how much time we save because of these mga mixes." — LA, GMA News
