Miss Universe queens arriving in the PHL this week

It’s going to be a beautifully stellar week indeed!

Department of Tourism officials confirmed on Monday that newly crowned Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters will be arriving in the country this week – on Wednesday, December 6, to be specific.

Demi-Leigh will be joined by eleven more Miss Universe beauties she competed against just last month: Miss Italy, Miss Netherlands, Miss Canada, Miss Great Britain, Miss Russia, Miss Singapore, Miss India, Miss China, Miss Malaysia, Miss Korea, and Miss USA.

Making the occasion even more special is the presence of Demi—Leigh’s predecessor, Iris Mitternaeare.

Sec. Teo said Pia Wurztbach won't make it because she is still in the US.

But not to worry because Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters is joining the party!

DOT Secrerary Wanda Teo, Undersecretary Ricky Alegre and Usec. Kat de Castro disclosed the activities of the beauty queens who are coming to the country.

On their first day, the candidates will go on a Manila tour, visiting the iconic sites of the country’s capital, Rizal Park and Intramuros.

On December 7, the ladies will be joining the DOT for a Christmas party and on December 8 they will start their provincial tours.

Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh will be touring Batanes, while Miss Universe 2016 Iris will be visiting Bohol. The other candidates will be traveling to Camiguin with Philippine bet Rachel Peters.

On December 9, they will finish the whole event with the Women of Significance Gala Night at Sofitel in Manila.

The candidates will be flying back home to their countries on December 10.

Secretary Teo also said that the event is a part of their “bring home a friend project” and the promotion of the country.

“‘Di ba we wanted everybody to be Philippine ambassadors so they could be part of that, they could ask their friends to come to the Philippines because Philippines is a nice country like a part of a promotion of the “bring home a friend.”

The Miss Universe Organization requested this event to the DOT during a meeting.

PNP Senior Superintendent Narciso Domingo reassured the safety of the candidates, he said they will provide a full force security. — LA, GMA News
