Rachel Peters ends her Miss Universe journey early, fails to make it to the Final Five

Aww, better luck for the Philippines next time.

Despite being included in many a favorites list, Filipina beauty queen Rachel Peters made an early exit at the Miss Universe 2017, failing to make it to the Final Five.

The Final Five candidates are:

• South Africa
• Venezuela
• Thailand
• Jamaica
• Colombia

It was a nerve-wracking journey for Peters. She entered the Final 16 as a wild card, easily slayed the swimwear and looked ethereal in her Val Taguba evening gown. Alas, her journey ended there. 

The Miss Universe Organization implemented a new mechanics for the coronation event, selecting the top 16 per continent.
