DOT to meet Miss Universe organizers on possible back-to-back hosting

The Department of Tourism is set to meet with the organizers of Miss Universe to discuss the possibility of the country's hosting the pageant again.

"The thing is they will be arriving on Friday. This is because they will have a charity event happening with some of the Miss Universe contestants from the 2016 edition," Undersecretary Kat de Castro said in a press conference on Wednesday.

"Paguusapan pa lang namin but the good thing on this one is sila na mismo ang lumapit sa Department of Tourism if they can have Miss Universe done here in the Philippines," she added.

De Castro said that they might come up with an announcement within the month following their meeting with the Miss Universe organizers.

The Philippines hosted the 65th Miss Universe coronation night on January 30 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena. — BM, GMA News
