Ana Steele's stunning Monique Lhuillier sheath gown in ‘Fifty Shades Darker’
Although clothes are more off than on in the sexy thriller "Fifty Shades Darker", there's enough time in between the kinky parts to showcase the sophisticated designs of couturier Monique Lhuillier.
Lhuillier designed the satin sheath gown worn by Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele for the film's masquerade ball.
The silver number flows over Johnson's figure and the hand-sewn ostrich feather capelet tempers the allure with touch of nostalgic glamour.
"I am so delighted to partner with Universal Pictures’ Fifty Shades Darker to design for the character of Anastasia Steele," said Lhuillier.
She added, "Like the Monique Lhuillier woman, Ana radiates confidence and femininity, and so the gown I imagined for this iconic scene encapsulates that modern sophistication."
"Fifty Shades Darker" costume designer Shay Cunliffe said in a statement to press that they sent Lhuillier notes on evoking "old Hollywood" and a "gown that can effortlessly slip to the ground."
"I often thought of Dakota in Monique’s stunning gown as a 'beautiful siren of simplicity,'" lauded Cunliffe.
Lhuillier has been a member of the Council of Fashion Designers in America since 2003. She established her own couture fashion house in 1996 in Los Angeles, California with husband Tom Bugbee.
Lhuillier's designs have been worn by Victoria's Secret angel Romee Stridj, actresses Camilla Belle, Zendaya, Sarah Hyland, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Stewart, and Reese Witherspoon, and singers Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. — AT, GMA News
