Free music festival to feature artists from ASEAN countries
Artists from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit (ASEAN) member states will perform for free on Tuesday, as a “breather” in the proceedings of the 31st summit hosted by the Philippines.
“This will serve as a breather from the formal proceedings that are happening this week in Clark, Pampanga and here in Manila,” National Commission on the Culture and the Arts (NCCA) International Affairs Office head Annie Luis said in a media briefing.
The ASEAN Music Festival, she added, aims to “promote the ASEAN identity and the artistic wealth of the region.”
Both the NCCA and the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) organized the activity, in partnership with Ayala Land.
Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) artistic director Maribel Legarda said nine bands from the ASEAN member states will perform, as well as six local bands from the Philippines.
The Filipino bands include Franco, Silent Sanctuary, Sandwich, The Ransom Collective, Parokya ni Edgar, and Ben&Ben.
Members of the media were already given a sneak peek of what to expect during the music festival.
GMA News' Tina Panganiban Perez posted on her Twitter account the performance of the rearranged version of the ASEAN 2017 theme song.
