Red Concepcion, Gerald Santos, Joreen Bautista join Miss Saigon UK cast


Three Filipino actors on Tuesday were officially announced as part of the upcoming UK and Ireland tour of the acclaimed musical Miss Saigon. 

Broadway World reported that Red Concepcion has been cast as The Engineer and Gerald Santos has been cast as Thuy. Meanwhile, actress Joreen Bautista will alternate with Sooha Kim in the role of Kim. 

Lea Salonga, the original Kim, was quick to congratulate the three.

Concepcion has enjoyed great success in the local theater scene, earning an Aliw Award and a Gawad Buhay Award for his role in Resorts World Manila's 2015 staging of "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert." 

Santos gained prominence after winning the second season of GMA Network's Pinoy Pop Superstar. Prior to his stint on television, Santos was nominated for an Aliw Award for his performance in "Sino Ka Ba, Jose Rizal." He would eventually win Aliw Awards for two of his concerts. 

Completing the principal lineup for the UK cast are Ashley Gilmour as Chris and Zoë Doano as Ellen.

The cast is supported by David Allwood, Randy Chien, Vinny Coyle, Kristine Mae Diaz, Michael James Eborall, Aynrand Ferrer, Seng Henk Goh, Emily Beth Harrington, Jack Heasman, Tom Hier, Barnaby Hughes, Kamm Kunaree, David Kar-Hing Lee, Amanda Lingdren, Ela Lisondra, Winchester Lopez, Christian Rey Marbella, Jay Marsh, Tom Mussell, Thao Nguyen, Saori Oda, YoungJoo Park, Kiel Payton, Katherine Picar, Alistair So, Carl Jae-Suk Sohlberg, Eloisa Amalia Tan, Gavin Tsang, Amadeus Williams, and Gerald Zarcilla.
