‘The Last Knight’ teaser shows Transformers in World War I

The “Transformers” film franchise may be a money-making machine, but it sure is dumb. How do you make it less dumb? By incorporating King Arthur into its already cluttered mythology, of course!

But wait, there’s more! Apparently the robots in disguise have been meddling in human affairs for the entirety of our history… well, according to this new “Transformers: The Last Knight” video just uploaded by Paramount Pictures, that is.

“A thousand years we’ve kept it hidden… the secret history of Transformers,” says Anthony Hopkins.

We don’t know how he managed to do it, but it must have taken the revered actor herculean effort to keep a straight face while uttering those lines.

“Transformers: The Last Knight” urges moviegoers to “rethink the past,” as it delves into humanity’s shared history with the Cybertronians. So yes, there will be a King Arthur figure in the movie, as mindboggling as that sounds. The movie is also meant to provide an answer to why the big dumb robots keep returning to our planet.

“Transformers: The Last Knight” is the fifth entry in the box office-smashing “Transformers” film series, and could possibly be Michael Bay’s last as director. His departure from the franchise won’t spell the end of big-screen adaptation of the popular toy line, however, as he recently stated that at least 14 “Transformers” stories have already written. The fifth film is supposed the launch a new “Transformers” shared universe in the same vein as the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe.

“Transformers: The Last Knight” stars Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Isabella Moner, Josh Duhamel, Laura Haddock, Stanley Tucci, and John Turturro. It smashes into theaters this June 23. — BM, GMA News
