‘Bliss’ production team to appeal MTRCB's X-rating on film
Jerrold Tarog on Wednesday released on his Facebook page a statement on the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board's (MTRCB) decision to declare his newest film "Bliss" rated X.
The statement reads: "We understand and respect the decision of MTRCB reviewing committee regarding the film Bliss. We are currently going through a process of submitting an appeal for a second review and hope for a more favorable result."
An "X" rating means that the film is unfit for public exhibition. PEP.ph reported that the film was given the rating for "explicit nudity scenes."
"Bliss" premiered at the Osaka Film Festival 2017. It details the misfortune that befalls Jane Ciego (Iza Calzado), an aging actress who decides to produce her own movie.
Calzado won the Yakushi Pearl Award for her performance in the movie.
In a brief interview with PEP.ph, Calzado jokingly said, "Bold star ba 'ko?"
PEP.ph further reported that the actress is saddened by the rating, but she, along with movie's production team, are hoping that their next meeting with MTRCB goes favorably. —with reports from PEP.ph/NB, GMA News
