Shanty inside UP features Mark Justiniani's works, mesmerizes viewers
Students could not help checking out a shanty standing in the middle of the Sunken Garden of the University of the Philippines in Diliman, a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday said.
Those who emerged from the shanty gushed about what they saw inside, a report by Athena Imperial said.
"Mapapasabi ka, 'Pa'no niya nagawa ito? At gaano kaya katagal?'" one of the visitors said.
"Natakot ako ng slight. Hindi ko talaga in-expect na 'yun 'yung laman ng maliit na gusaling 'yan," another student said.
Inside the shanty was what seemed to be a basement.
The artist, Mark Justiniani, employed the concept of illusion to create it.
"It's just to remind us of our history... We are at an uncertain period in our history right now. We don't know if we're going to float or we're gonna collapse," Justiniani said.
There was also a "tunnel" inside the shanty which seems to be unending.
"It's the way na may promise din doon which is, for now, still just another illusion," Justiniani said.
A huge room could be seen inside, which could be compared to a grandiose room inside Malacañang Palace.
"Ito pala kung saan nagho-hold ng Cabinet meetings. Ang tawag pala diyan, 'The Aguinaldo Hall,'" Justiniani explained.
Entrance to the shanty dubbed "The Settlement" is free. —KG, GMA News
