Family of girl tagged by Ellen Adarna files cyberlibel, child abuse complaints
The family of Eleila Santos on Tuesday filed complaints of cyberlibel and child abuse against Ellen Adarna for accusing the teenager of taking a "paparazzi" video of her in a restaurant.
Myra Abo Santos, mother of Eleila, told GMA News Online that they filed the complaints against Adarna at the Pasig City prosecutor's office.
In a separate phone interview, lawyer Arnold Labay, the Santos family's legal counsel, said, they have filed complaints against the actress for supposed violations of Republic Act No. 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law and Republic Act No. 10175 or the Anti-Cybercrime Law.
Eleila's family filed the complaint as Adarna has yet to heed their demand for a public apology for the accusation.
Labay said Adarna has never reached out to the Santos family to apologize or settle the matter.
In a Facebook post on May 7, Myra demanded a public apology from Adarna.
Adarna had accused Eleila of taking videos of her while they were inside a ramen place in Makati City. She took photos of the girl and posted them on social media.
Eleila, however, clarified in a post that she was not taking a video of Adarna and said she did not even notice the celebrity was at the ramen place.
She shared the video footage she took at the ramen place. —with Anna Felicia Bajo/ALG/KBK/NB, GMA News
