Facebook confirms Messenger down for some users

Facebook on Tuesday confirmed that its Messenger service is down from some users.

The social media platform posted a status update titled "Messenger Platform is experiencing failures" at 8:06 p.m. in its developers platform.

"We are seeing an increased error rate in our Messaging API. Sending and receiving messages might not work," the post read. "Our team is working to resolve this."

Engineer Matt Barber, in an update to the Facebook's bug-tracking platform, added: "We can confirm there is currently an issue regarding messenger that is under investigation by our engineering team as a top priority."

Users still reported being unable to send or receive messages as of posting time.

Facebook claims that its Messenger platform has 1.2 billion users. —JST, GMA News
