PLM, Reyes Tacandong & Co. sign to provide accounting courses for free to select students


The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) and the charity arm of tax, audit and advisory firm Reyes Tacandong & Co.- Reyes, Tacandong & Co. Foundation, Inc. (RTF) signed on Tuesday, February 13, a memorandum of agreement providing select students of the premiere University access to RTF’s online accounting courses, for free.

The University has a robust degree program in Accountancy and has produced honor students and board passers over the years.

Although PLM takers have to quite a large degree performed well in recent CPA board examinations having posted passing marks higher than the national passing rate, PLM’s goal is to have them place among the board topnotchers.

Under the MOA signed by PLM President Ma. Leonora V. De Jesus and RTF Chairman Roman Felipe S. Reyes and Chief Operating Officer Protacio T. Tacandong, the University will be in charge of selecting students from its accountancy, business or law programs for enrolment in the online courses as well as decide on the courses’ inclusion in the prescribed curriculum and grading system (award of equivalent units).

RTF, in turn, commits to provide online access to enrolled students for a period not less than 180 days for a period of not less than 180 days with re-enrollment available upon the expiry of the original period, and to provide guidance to the University on course development based on current industry needs and standards.
RTF also proposes to open the program to PLM faculty and administrative personnel engaged in accounting or finance-related functions.

The PLM-RTF tie-up is expected to reinforce the University’s campaign to place its BS Accountancy graduates among the top performers in future board examinations.
