Asian Games: Olympian Daniel Caluag wins first gold for Team Philippines
The Philippines finally barged into the gold medal column in the Asian Games after Olympian Daniel Caluag ruled the BMX cycling event on Wednesday.
Caluag clocked 35.489 seconds in the seeding run to place first among eight cyclists, before finishing on top during the three runs in the men's motos.
Caluag, who competed in the 2012 London Olympics, maintained his speed on the 35 second mark in all three races. He clocked the fastest in the first run, hitting 35.277 seconds.
He finished with 35.366 and 35.431 seconds in the remaining two runs for an accumulated three points to bag the gold.
Japan's Masahiro Sampei and China's Yan Zhu copped the silver and bronze medals to reach the podium. — JST, GMA News
