Kapuso hunk actor Tom Rodriguez is excited and nervous at the same time to play the role of “Sergio” in the second remake of the Mexican drama series MariMar in the Philippines.
He has been preparing for his character for two weeks now, “Noong nalaman ko, ngayon todo gym for the past two weeks…nagpapakamatay ako sa gym. Kailangan ko humabol kasi na-warningan na ako na marami 'yung mga eksena na hindi ako nakaganito [coat and tie] (laughs).”
The My Husband’s Lover star’s love interest in the series and playing MariMar is his friend, Miss World 2013 Megan Young. This is at least a break for Tom especially in undergoing a familiarity workshop.
“More [on] acquainting lang kasi like I said, we’ve been acquainted before, friends [at] work before and ang dali naman ibalik 'yung working relationship before,” he said in the report of Lhar Santiago on Balitanghali.
Tom is challenged to enact the role and also open to be compared to Mexican actor Eduardo Capetillo and Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.
He said, “’Di naman maiiwasan po ‘yun eh and that’s a good thing. I mean people are always entitled to their own opinion and that’s what makes our society great. 'Yung sa akin lang, if there is constructive criticism, I will gladly take it.”
On another note, the Kapuso star has not disclosed his relationship with rumored girlfriend Carla Abellana, but said they are happy with each other.
“We’re great. Masayang-masaya ako na nandiyan siya sa buhay ko because she makes me very, very happy,” the MariMar star happily expressed.
