Marian Rivera, all set for 'Carmela'

2013 has been a fruitful year for Marian Rivera, having consistently won acting awards here and there. The Kapuso Primetime Queen has received the Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series” award at the ENPRESS Golden Screen Awards. She was also named “Celebrity of the Year” at the Yahoo! OMG! Awards 2013 and most recently, she was named “Best Drama Actress” at the 27th PMPC Star Awards for Television for her performance in Temptation of Wife.

She is also nominated for “Best Actress” for her performance in Temptation of Wife in the upcoming Asian Television Awards to be held in Singapore on December 5.

Now, Marian Rivera makes her much-awaited Primetime comeback via Carmela. The series is set to air on 2014, and Kapuso heartthrob Alden Richards will be Marian’s leading man.

At the Carmela story conference held last November 19, Marian expressed her excitement in working with the cast of her upcoming series.

She addressed them and said, “Siyempre gusto kong mag-thank you sa mga cast. Thank you lalo kay Ms. Agot dahil tinanggap niya ito. Alam kong maraming offer sa kanya, pero binigyan niya ng pagkakataon na makasama ako at kaming lahat. Siyempre hindi rin biro na maging nanay ko sa isang soap opera.”

Expect to see Agot Isidro in a performance unlike any other. Her role in Carmela veers away from the previous roles she has done on film and television. The mother-daughter rapport between Agot and Marian is definitely something worth watching out for.

Marian also mentioned that being given the opportunity to play the title role Carmela means a lot to her. She explained, “Excited ako na mag-work ulit dahil after ng Temptation [of Wife], seven months akong na-tengga, so ito na ‘yung pinakahihintay kong soap opera. Sisiguraduhin ko hindi ako magiging mahirap na katrabaho para sa inyo. Ako mismo ang magre-reach out sa inyo para mas maging mas masaya ‘yung set natin.”

Addressing her co-actors, she said, “Ang dami ko nang soap na nagagawa, at naniniwala ako na ‘pag hindi maganda ‘yung kinalolooban ng soap, makikita mo. Nagrereflect talaga. Gusto kong nagrereflect yung ginagawa nating masaya pero makabuluhan. At the same time, complete na tayo at excited tayong makilala ‘yung isa’t isa at mas lalalim pa ‘yung friendship.”

She added, “Thank you, Direk [Dominic Zapata] and Ms. Suzette [Doctolero]. Excited talaga ako.”
