Pambansang Bae Alden Richards shared his inspirational story on how faith brought miracles to his life.
His retelling in the book Beyond All Barriers began with his mother’s wish. It read, “If there was anyone who wanted me to become a successful actor more than myself, it would be my mom.”
He also added that “the odds for anyone making it in show business has always been a million to one. My mother thought otherwise, she always believed that I could do anything.”
When Alden’s mom died when he was 16 years old, the Kapuso actor was disheartened. He however shared, “I took the greatest comfort in the fact that Mom was in heaven and that she was with God watching over me.”
The unfortunate event made Alden more determined to succeed in showbiz. He let go of his childhood dream to become a pilot and took chances via commercials and auditions to pursue what his mom wanted for him.
Alden got his first break in showbiz in 2010 but he noticed his career reached a plateau early in 2015.
Alden developed a deeper spiritual life, and claimed that this brought him to where he is right now.
“At the first part of my career I had given everything I could and it had only gotten me so far. It was only when I surrendered myself to God, was I able to achieve something which was beyond my wildest dreams,” he said.
Alden’s account is among the 100 true stories included in the book written by Flor Gozon-Tarriela and Butch Jimenez.
