EXCLUSIVE: PH bet Camille Hirro crowned as Miss Global 1st Runner-up

You brought honor to our country, Ms. Camille Hirro.

Hooray, another queen was hailed from the tropics!

Philippines representative Camille “CJ” Hirro was crowned as this year’s Miss Global 1st Runner-up next to Miss Ecuador Angela Bonilla who emerged as winner.

Call it home court advantage, but this 5’6” ghost writer slayed the stage of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City with her wits, beauty, and confidence last Saturday, September 24.

It’s unlikely for a beauty titleholder to have short hair, but CJ nailed the look, and it’s a first for our country, she told GMANetwork.com in an exclusive interview. “There were a lot of people saying [I’m] not queenly, [but] I’m not here to be the queen [they] want me to be. This pageant is all about women empowerment.”

Later today, the new Miss Global queen will be crowned. Whether or not that will be me is an uncertainty I do not want to stress out about now. The past two weeks of the competition have been extremely exhausting enough. But here's one sure thing that will happen later: I will go out there with everything I have, and give the performance that the country deserves from a queen that wears its name around her. I believe I can win this and that is what I will try my best to do. To the contemptuos, I will never apologize for not being perfect. I weigh 115lbs at 5'6, and I measure 35-25-37. I would be disgusted at myself if I lose even just a little bit more. Do not impose your unreasonable standard of women's body on me if you can't live up to it yourself. I am not ugly. Ugly are those whose hearts are filled with pride and anger. I am not stupid. I have a bachelor's degree in broadcast communication, with a cum laude standing finish. That while I was working to pay for my tuition and all the bills that came with being a college student living away from family. I agree that I don't look like a model and that is okay because I am not one. I am an events and TV host, a ghostwriter, and a political strategist. I am saving up for law school. I am working very hard to bring honor to the country. I hope you are too. To everyone who helped me through this journey, thank you so much. There's too many of you to remember, but know that I will forever try to give back as much as I have received. For God and country, let us pray for a successful coronation night. May God bless you all. ??? #MissGlobal #MissGlobal2016 #MissGlobalPhilippines2016

Before she won the pageant, the University of the Philippines Broadcast Communication graduate stressed, “Education and reputation – those are the only two things I had for me to get to where I am now.”

Right now, she’s ready to take on bigger roles in our society, “If you have a crown on your head and you have a title with you, it gives you authority to talk about something. It makes you credible then people start listening to you, and institution leaders start working with you.”

The 28-year-old Pampangeña plans to focus on our country’s tourism, “I want to have a more holistic approach when it comes to Tourism, and that’s [going to] be three aspects of it.”

“First would be, the people – you have to take care of [them, and] you have to invest in them. Second, we want to be part of whatever infrastructure projects the government will be doing. Lastly, we want to work on the environment [and its resources]. It has to be sustained for future generations,” she concluded.
