Baste Duterte pays tribute to dad; claims the president-elect is his number one idol
Baste to Digong: "“Pa, I want to tell you now, my answer was wrong. Ikaw talaga ang number one idol ko."
It seems Father’s day came early for President-elect Rodrigo Duterte as his son Sebastian “Baste” Duterte paid him tribute at a thanksgiving party held in Cebu.
A report on 24 Oras showed that after President-elect Rodrigo expressed his gratitude and reiterated his pursuit against crime, drugs and corruption, Baste took on the stage and declared praises for the former.
Baste recalled, “When I was younger, tinanong ako ni Papa. Sa panahon ngayon, I wanna go back in time... He asked me sino ang aking number one idol. Sabi ko, ‘Michael Jordan.’”
“Pa, I want to tell you now, my answer was wrong. Ikaw talaga ang number one idol ko. Kahit ganito lang ako, I would not be the person who I am right now if not for you. I have always looked up to you. Kahit ganito lang ako, Pa,” he continued.
The presidential son also took the opportunity to send a reminder to the youth.
He said, “Especially to my contemporaries, ang youth. When it comes to our responsibility as Filipino, ‘pag mauuna ang pera sa ating utak at bumaba sa ating puso, talo talaga tayo.
“I just felt the need to share this to you because it is true, iyan ang experience ko. Kaya nga nilagay natin si Mayor, ating president diyan dahil gusto natin,” Baste concluded.
