GMA Network, through its international business unit GMA International, recently renewed its ties with One Mega Publishing Group, the country’s pioneer publisher of glossy magazines, in a MOA signing last January 29 at GMA Network Center.
Borne out of their shared vision to bring out the best in the Filipino, the partnership between the two media outfits allows for the international broadcast of One Mega lifestyle programs through GMA’s second international channel, GMA Life TV (GLTV).
GLTV aired One Mega’s Generation M, Young Designers Competition, and MEGA Top Fashion Crew from 2011 to 2012, and now the only international Filipino lifestyle channel will bring to over one million Filipino viewers abroad six more One Mega lifestyle shows. These are I am Appetite TV Season 1, Mega Fashion Crew Season 2, Mega TV Season 1, My Home TV Season 2, and Mega Young Designers Competition Seasons 2 and 3.
“The programming of One Mega Group fits perfectly with the vision of GMA Life TV, which is to celebrate the best in Pinoy lifestyle,” said GMA International Vice President and Head of Operations Joseph Francia. “Their shows are aspirational and follow a format that second generation Filipinos would certainly be interested in as they go beyond the traditional.”
For their part, One Mega Group President and CEO Sari Yap said that their partnership with GMA allows them “to extend the good that they do” to a bigger audience. “We are thankful to GMA for seeing the potential of our programs,” she said. “We hope that, through these shows, we are able to make young Filipinos abroad proud of their roots as we extend our culture to them in a way they understand.”
Also joining Ms. Yap from One Mega are Archie Carrasco (AVP for Multi-Platform Sales and Marketing) and Michael Carandang (Producer). Carandang is best known for being the producer of America’s Next Top Model. He is also the director of GMA Pinoy TV’s RSVP with Dr. Tess. According to him, “We are very proud of the roster [of shows] this year. But what we are most proud of is our message that the Philippines is the place to be. It’s the place to grow and be successful. We promise to keep on improving and to keep competing with ourselves.”
GMA Life TV celebrates the best in Filipino lifestyle through a rich and vibrant mix of program genres from drama, fashion, talk, reality, food, and a lot more. It can be seen in the U.S, Canada, the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Hong Kong, Guam, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Madagascar; and will soon be launched in additional pay-TV systems in North Africa and the Asia Pacific Region.
