TJ Trinidad, gaganap na isang bading sa teatro

Gaganap si TJ bilang si Bruce Niles sa stage play na 'The Normal Heart.'

Bukod sa primetime series na The Rich Man's Daughter, may iba pang proyektong pinagkakaabalahan ang Kapuso actor na si TJ Trinidad. Ito ay ang stage play na 'The Normal Heart' na unang beses pa lang gagawin dito sa Pilipinas.
Gaganap si TJ bilang si Bruce Niles, isang closet gay. Malapit daw ang character na ito sa ginagampan ni Mike Tan na si Paul sa The Rich Man's Daughter.

"He was the president of this organization that spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. He used to be a soldier, a Green Beret. He's actually a closet gay, so he's not too flamboyant. Parang very subtle. It doesn't come out so much when he's with people that don't know. When he's around people that know he's gay, he's more lax. A guess a little bit like how Mike Tan portrays Paul, somewhere there."
Ito ang kanyang unang professional play, and he admits that he will be facing some challenges.
"Hindi siya mahirap in terms of getting into the character. With plays kasi, the more you rehearse, the more immersed you get. By the time you actually have the first night, you'd be in it."
Dagdag pa niya, "It's more of the technical aspect that you think about kasi it's not TV. It's big, you have to get your message across up to the person sitting at the back. Kasi my speaking voice is like this, so when I do my line I have to speak loud like this (laughs). So 'yun 'yun. It's the consistency of doing all that, plus it's a big challenge."
Kuwento pa ni TJ, dati pa daw ay aarte na sana siya sa teatro. Pero dahil sa schedule ay naudlot ang mga ito.
"I was slated to do a couple before but it didn't jive with the schedule. Nag-reading na kami. I was supposed to do 'Doubt' before, but it didn't fit my schedule. Now, God willing that everything works out after Magpakailanman, tuloy-tuloy na ang production namin."

'The Normal Heart', which was adapted into an HBO TV movie last year starring Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer, will run from July 3 to 5 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza.
